Alaska Racquetball Tournament: August 23-26, 2007

On August 23-26 Warren Bailey hosted his 2nd Annual "Slaying the Beast" Racquetball Tournament in Anchorage, Alaska.

This year we had many more sponsors, raised more money, and had more participants than last year.

This years 2nd Annual "Slaying the Beast" Racquetball Fundraising Tournament, doubled the 1st Annual Tournament money raised. Last year we raised approximately $3000.00, and this year were getting close to $6000.00.

Last year we were honored to have former Governor Knowles. This year Anchorage Mayor, Mark Begich, was there to join the awareness ceremony for Leiomyosarcoma and induct 3 candidates for the Racquetball Hall Of Fame.

KTVA (CBS) channel 11 was there to do a special on the tournament and some of my family giving testimony.

Also, this year, we added a T-Shirt for Non-Participant and Sponsors Supporting Leiomyosarcoma. The T-Shirts front has an inconspicuous Purple Ribbon with Leiomyosarcoma/LMS and below that the words "The Whoops Disease". On the back is a brief explanation of why LMS is the "Whoops" disease. The LMSdr logo, the sideways heart, and www.lmsdr.org also appear on the back.

I have alot of ideas for next year to add from what I've learned this year. I pray that god will keep me healthy, that I can improve on what I have learned so far!

Alaska Racquetball Tournament: October 12-15, 2006

Warren Bailey has worked to bring about a tournament to benefit the LMSarcoma Direct Research Foundation. This fundraiser took place on Oct 12-15 in Anchorage, Alaska. The name chosen for this tournament was: Slay The Beast! and there were many racquetballs swinging trying to do just that! Wilson Sports Equipment has graciously donated goggles, gloves, racquets and other items for bidding, with portions going to LMS Research.
