Holiday House Tour: December 10th and 17th, 2006
In December 2006, The Glassman Family of Annandale, NJ raised over $8,000 for LMSdr in honor of their friend Dawn Peragallo.
Every year the Glassman Family of Annandale, NJ hosts a breathtaking Holiday House Tour at their home on 14 Cobblestone Lane. The tour has approximately 7 Christmas trees decorated in different themes. The assortment contains a large collection of LLadro, Lenox, and Swarovski Crystal. Additionally the Glassmans have numerous rooms filled with collections of Department 56 villages and other Christmas finery. There is a Hannukah room, an Italian Nativity set from Fontanini, snowmen, dolls, teddy bears and Christmas trees. This year the tour will benefit the LMSarcoma Direct Research Foundation(LMSdr) and the families affected by this devastating disease. (FOR MORE INFO ON LMSdr use www.lmsdr.org
) The event is a fun time for families to enjoy the beauty of the holidays.
Dawn Peragallo is my neighbor and friend who suffers from Leiomyosarcoma. I would like to give you some background on Dawn who is a Clinton Township resident and on the work she has done and continues to do in our community. Leiomyosarcoma is a rare form of cancer which affects about four people in every million. Dawn has had this disease for the past four years and has fought through surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation and continues to do so. While battling this disease Dawn has cared for her now 11 year old daughter and 7 year old son, she started a support group specifically for children whose parents have cancer, continued her role as a Girl Scout Leader and volunteer/chairperson for the Girl Scouts annual Camporee. Even when Dawn was feeling terrible last year at Camporee time she didn't give up, she ran the event for several hundred young girl scouts and their parents. Dawn is an inspiration to so many people, she has maintained an amazing attitude throughout the past four years while taking countless trips to Boston and New York to work with reknowned doctors trying experimental treatments where others would have given up fighting long ago. Recently one of her friends ran the New York Marathon to raise awareness for the LMS Research Foundation and another ran the Boston Marathon. Neighbors and friends bring meals to the family twice a week and still the community wants to do more. Girl Scouts from around the county are offering to help in any way possible, with baked goods or to be ushers/greeters at the event.
The tour was held on December 10th and December 17th from 1 - 8 at 14 Cobblestone Lane, Annandale, NJ. For more info call Faith at 730-9576.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, Dawn is a great neighbor, friend, mother and person and I hope her hard work will continue to inspire others as she has inspired me.
Thank you,
