We Honor

Ricki Gero

I have been diagnosed with LMS
and will still be fighting as long as I can Jitterbug.

I fight by trying to raise money to help LMSdr fund appropriate research. Because I want to raise money AND have fun in my life, 2 years ago, I decided to have a fake birthday party during the summer (my bday is in October), invite everyone I know and ask them to invite everyone they know. I love to dance – jitterbug, stomp, pony, cha cha – and so do most of my friends. The price of getting in to the club is a donation to my LMSdr fund.

For the past two years, my unbirthday party fund raising event was at a bar in Margate, NJ, called Memories in Margate. The owner of the club and the disc jockey is a Philadelphia celebrity named Jerry Blavat, aka The Geator With the Heater, the Boss With the Hot Sauce. (yes, this does sound stranger in writing than it does out loud!) Mr. Blavat’s music is all oldies from the 50s, and some from the 60s. He used to have a tv dance show, his own radio oldies show, and still has a large group of followers because he appears year-round at various places.

I swore to take a camera to this year’s event, on August 11, 2006, but, because I’m almost 60, I forgot. And so did Bob, my husband (who’s 61).
Therefore, I have submitted 2 photos, one of Bob and me and the other of my daughter Jessica and me at her recent 30th birthday par-tay.

Thank you, with all my heart, to those who donated to my fund this summer.
