December 3, 2007      I would like to nominate DeeDee Barreiro for the LMSdr Excellence in Care Award. DeeDee is an RN in medical oncology in the sarcoma clinic at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla.      She has always been kind, helpful and encouraging to me as a patient and a volunteer.      I did a year of chemo before coming to Moffitt, and I relied heavily on nurses, talking to them at least once a week. I’m grateful for my current health-care team, and it’s hard to single out one person for praise. But I’m nominating DeeDee in hopes of encouraging other nurses to consider medical oncology in sarcoma. Suzie Siegel
