LMSarcoma Direct Research Foundation (LMSdr) invites investigators to submit grant applications for institutional research studying leiomyosarcoma. The Foundation is particularly interested in basic science and translational research aiming for a better understanding of the (molecular) biology of both uterine & non-uterine leiomyosarcoma eventually leading to improvement of diagnostic tools, discovery of new prognostic markers and novel therapeutic approaches to find a cure for this malignant disease or improve the quality of life for those whose disease cannot be cured.
This funding is intended primarily as seed money for promising new work. It is not for supporting research where funding has either lapsed or has been previously disapproved. Preference will be given to applications where indirect costs are minimal or nonexistent.
This Foundation, because it is newly formed in 2006, does not anticipate making its first grant until December 2006. You may submit Request for Grant via U.S. Postal mailing or by email. The length of the portion of the application dealing with project description is at the discretion of the applicant. Applications are subject to review by the Scientific Advisory Committee of LMSarcoma Direct Research Foundation, which will give its recommendations to the Board of Trustees of the Foundation. Most grants are awarded for one or two years up to $50,000 per year ($100,000 maximum). Funding for promising research may be extended further at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.
